Bentonite Augers
Bentonite Augers from NUB Engineering have been successfully used in both bladed and toothed configuration.
The solid steel mandril is squared at the top and entered into the Kelly Box and the top flight is taken on and welded to the Kelly Box.
All flights are hot pressed to eliminate the tendency for crack formation during pressing and to reduce inherent stresses in the steel.
Standard augers consist of a lead flight 25mm thick with two succeeding flights each 20mm thick. A secondary flight system is introduced to create a Single Start Double Helix configuration. This creates separate flights for spoil carriage and uninterrupted passage of Bentonite.
A flap would normally be fitted in spoil carriage area to retain spoil during withdrawal of auger through Bentonite. The combination of spoil and flap in spoil flight area thus encourages free flow of Bentonite through auger without removal of spoil.
Double Helix Rock Auger
A really rugged auger which has proved itself under extremely demanding conditions.
Particularly suitable for us with high torque slow rev machines with a hydraulic crowd.
Kelly Box
Top end of mandril is squared and inserted 100mm into the Kelly Box
thus giving maximum resistance to shear. The box is manufactured from
heavy plate to suit customers' dimensions.
Flights
The flights are hot pressed to eliminate the tendency for crack formation
during pressing and to reduce inherent stresses in the steel. Standard
Augers consist of a lead flight 40mm thick with succeeding flights
each 20mm thick.
Mandrils
Solid mild steel shafts are throughout the range.
Hard Surfacing
The outer edges of the leading flights are hard surfaced to resist
wear.
Teeth
To suit customers' requirements (see some further information under accessories)
NUB also manufacture tools
to customer specifications
